Adjusting the Width of a Repeating Table in the PDF Attachment of an Email

Instructions:

The Repeating Tables in the attached PDF image of the form appear compressed, resulting in several columns being hidden. While the form views are designed with horizontal scrolling to ensure proper visibility of all fields, this setting does not carry over to the PDF image. Is there a configuration setting that can be modified to enlarge the tables, or is there any other workaround available? An instance of this issue can be observed in the attached file, particularly in the “Product specification and testing” table located towards the bottom of the form.

Solution:

This behavior is intentional. When creating a PDF, it is treated as an image and will only accommodate the columns or rows that fit within the width of the PDF. It does not consider scrolling functionality.

The current design follows this approach. However, we can suggest a workaround. One option is to create a new view where the columns of the tables are split. Then, attach this modified view as a PDF in the form email.

Another possible reason for this issue could be the width settings of the Repeating table.

To address this, you can follow the following steps:

  1. Start by adjusting the width of the repeating table so that it fits within the PDF when attached to the email.

  2. If you have a large number of fields, such as 20 columns in a repeating table, the data may appear too small in the PDF. To overcome this, follow the steps below:

  • Create a separate view specifically for attaching the PDF.
  • In the composer view properties, configure the layout and column widths to optimize the display in the PDF.

  • Set the Table Width parameter in the Table form element properties to the View form width parameter value.

  • Set the view name in the workflow attachment none.
