The Automate Function Module for SAP

To ensure compatibility and support from Precisely, the client software (Studio) must be either the same version or a later version of the Function Module (FM). It is recommended as a best practice that customers install the latest AFM when deploying a new SAP server release, such as S/4 HANA or ECC. This ensures interoperability with the new SAP server release and prepares for a Studio and Foundation upgrade that brings additional features and performance improvements tied to the AFM. Detailed information on these upgrades can be found in the Studio Upgrade Guides.

Customers using version 11 or later of Studio and/or Foundation have the option to upgrade their AFM to the latest certified version compatible with the newly available SAP S/4 HANA release. In case of any issues arising from a mixed version configuration, customers seeking Precisely customer support must upgrade their Studio to the same version as their AFM. For complex scripts, customers may also need to update their scripts to ensure seamless compatibility with the newer versions of Studio, AFM, and the new SAP S/4 HANA release.

For more information, please refer to the SAP and Automate Product Compatibility Policy article, which provides further background on this topic.

After the installation of the combined AFM installer,

Please note that for WFM versions 20.0, 20.1, and 20.2, we do not provide support for Studio 20.0 and 20.1 with Connect. If you have Evolve or Studio Manager installed on your system, you can download and use these three versions of the WFM. However, please refrain from downloading them if you are using Studio 20.0 or 20.1 with Connect, as support for this configuration is not available.
